Ben-Gurion University of the Negev Mourns the Passing of Director-General and Vice President Tal Ben-Haim
Ben-Gurion University of the Negev announces with deep sorrow and profound grief the untimely passing of its Director-General and Vice President, Tal Ben-Haim.
Tal was a prominent leader at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev and a central partner in shaping its trajectory in recent years. Since assuming the role in 2022, he spearheaded major initiatives to strengthen the University, enhance student services, expand infrastructure, and advance its academic and strategic goals.
Even throughout his battle with illness, Tal continued to display remarkable courage, determination, and devotion to the University and its community. His deep commitment to the institution and its people served as an enduring source of inspiration to many of us.
University President Prof. Daniel Chamovitz paid tribute: “Today we say farewell to a leader, a colleague, and a friend. His passing is a heavy loss to his family, his friends, and the entire University community.”
The University leadership, faculty, administrative staff, and students extend their heartfelt condolences to the family and stand with them in this difficult hour.
To ensure administrative continuity, Yossi Rokni will serve as Acting Director-General.
