Academic Internship Program

​​​​​Gain hands-on research experience working alongside a BGU faculty member

The program aims to provide a flexible tailor-made framework. Students from diverse academic backgrounds, both undergraduate and graduate, can conduct their internship within BGU and outside of the university, through practical work assignments and experience. The first step is to find a host with research interests that match your academic background and goals. An internship can be conducted in all 6 BGU faculties, in all fields of research.

BGU offers a vibrant campus life, and a diverse, convenient, and friendly student-oriented city. With Israeli students, international students from countries worldwide, helpful staff, and trips throughout Israel– a significant experience is awaiting you.

Information about your Internship

The student should have at least one year of academic experience and submit the following required documents:

  • A Digital Photograph (JPG)
  • CV/Resume
  • Copy of Passport

There might be additional requirements upon the academic host's request.

The program can be set from 3 to 12 months according to the agreement between the student and the academic host.

Under the supervision of professional supervisors, students may typically be assigned to some or all of the following responsibilities: review literature, undertake research in a particular subject area, collect information on topics related to the subject area, organize data and documents, and participate in ongoing research projectsand more.

On-campus housing (Beer-Sheva Campus): $495 per month (or part of a month) – Optional

Mandatory University Services Fee:

Semester - $150 USD

Year - $300 USD​

Payment is available online via credit card or PayPal.

Every guest, visitor, professor, or student, as well as accompanying family members and dependents, associated with BGU must be covered by a comprehensive health insurance policy provided by an Israeli provider, for the period of their stay in Israel.

Students must apply for a student visa (A2) via their local embassy or consulate before arriving in Israel.

Trips and Activities – payment per event.

For students receiving MASA scholarships, the above components are mandatory and added to the cost of the internship. Ask us more about the MASA opportunity: Liat Bussiba at bussibal@bgu.ac.il

To apply for the Internship program, you are requested to find an academic host/advisor at BGU.

  • First​ step​ – find a host. You can search the BGU Research Portal.
  • For further instructions on finding an advisor, click here.
  • Second step - coordinate the internship with the selected host /advisor.
  • Third step - only after receiving consent from a BGU host/advisor, submit your application through the online application.
