Prof. Amir Horev

Dermatology and Venereology Specialist and Pediatric Dermatologist

Amir Horev, married and father of two daughters, resident of Omer, is a senior dermatologist and director of the Pediatric Dermatology Service at Soroka Medical Center.

Prof. Horev completed his comprehensive training in Israel and the United States.

In 2006-2011, he completed his residency in the Department of Dermatology and Venereology at Soroka Hospital and served as Chief Resident.

In 2011-2012, he completed a clinical subspecialty in pediatric dermatology in the United States, at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, one of the leading centers in the United States. In 2012, he joined the medical team in the department, and served as a senior attending physician and clinical instructor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.

Upon his return to Israel in 2014, he assumed the management of the Pediatric Dermatology Service at Soroka, a position he holds to this day.

In 2017, he completed a fellowship in the Dermatology Department at Children's Hospital Los Angeles, and in 2018, he completed a fellowship in atopic dermatitis at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York.

In addition to his clinical work, Prof. Horev lectures in the Faculty of Health Sciences and is a member of the admissions committees for the School of Medicine at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. He teaches medical students and residents, supervises thesis and research, and contributes to the training of the future generation of doctors in Israel. Prof. Horev was selected by his fellow physicians to be included in the prestigious Forbes magazine's list of the best doctors in Israel.

Prof. Horev's research and interest areas are diverse and include, among others: acne, atopic dermatitis, vitiligo, alopecia areata, psoriasis, molluscum, leishmania, congenital moles and hemangioma. He has published nearly 100 scientific articles in the professional literature, written chapters in medical books and lectured at dozens of conferences in Israel and abroad. He is also a member of important professional associations in the field, including the Israeli Society of Dermatology, the Israeli Society of Pediatric Dermatology, the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) and the European Academy of Dermatology (EADV), and co-authored the guidelines for the treatment of acne, atopic dermatitis and hemangioma in Israel.
