Resolving Methane Dynamics in Nutrient-Enriched Mediterranean Reservoirs

Reservoirs contribute over 5% of global atmospheric methane (CH4)
emissions, but sparse measurements make these highly variable fluxes
uncertain. This talk presents research on CH4 drivers in wastewater-fed
Mediterranean reservoirs, focusing on how nutrients, thermal structure,
and environmental variability regulate methane.
Specifically, it addresses: (a) how fluxes vary over time; (b) how watercolumn structure, redox dynamics, and algal productivity influence
methane cycling; and (c) how high-resolution monitoring and remote
sensing improve emissions upscaling.
Dr. Isaac Yagle is a Postdoctoral researcher at the Levintal lab (ZIWR,
BIDR, BGU). He holds a B.Sc. from the University for Development
Studies, Ghana, and an M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Terrestrial Biogeochemistry
from BGU. His research focuses on terrestrial and aquatic
biogeochemistry, greenhouse gas dynamics, soil carbon, and nitrogen
cycling
