The Institute for Interdisciplinary Computational Science is an innovative research center that brings together scholars from diverse fields. The Institute conducts research which builds bridges between computer science, informatics, and other disciplines such as healthcare, medicine, biology, neuroscience, physics, mathematics, psychology, operations research, economics, humanities, and more. The Institute views cross-disciplinary collaboration as essential for progress, fostering a culture of joint research, methodological innovation, and knowledge sharing, with the aim of building a leading community in interdisciplinary computational science and promoting responsible, innovative uses of computation for the benefit of society at large.

Prof. Robert Moskovitch
Robert Moskovitch is a Professor of Computer and Information Science at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (BGU), Israel, where he serves as Chair of the Institute of Interdisciplinary Computational Science and directs the Complex Data Analytics Lab. He also serves as Vice Dean for Industry and International Relations. In addition, he is an Adjunct Faculty Member in the Department of Population Health Science and Policy at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York City. Prior to joining BGU, Professor Moskovitch was a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Biomedical Informatics at Columbia University in New York City. Before his academic career, he led several R&D projects in Information Security at Deutsche Telekom Innovation Laboratories. Professor Moskovitch’s research focuses primarily on temporal data analytics, data mining, and machine learning, with applications spanning biomedical informatics, cybersecurity, sports analytics, and other domains. His work centers on developing methods for discovering, modeling, and interpreting complex patterns in heterogeneous and temporal data. Professor Moskovitch is an Associate Editor of ACM Transactions on Knowledge Discovery from Data (TKDD) and Big Data journals, serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Biomedical Informatics (JBI), and has previously served as an Academic Editor for PLOS ONE and on the editorial boards of additional journals. He has also co-edited special issues for JASIST, JBI, JAIR, and AIMJ. He has held several leadership roles in the Artificial Intelligence in Medicine (AIME) community, including serving as the elected Vice Chair of the AIME Society Board and continuing to serve on the Board. He was General Co-Chair of the AIME 2024 conference. He regularly serves on program committees of leading international conferences, including ACM KDD, IJCAI, AAAI, IEEE ICDM, and AIME, including in Area Chair and other senior organizational roles. He has published more than 100 peer-reviewed papers in leading journals and conferences, including ACM KDD, AAAI, IEEE ICDM, SDM, DMKD, ACM TKDD, JAIR, JAMIA, JBI, AMIA, and others.
