- Do not open an email from someone you do not know. These messages may be part of phishing and spyware frauds.
- Use caution when opening e-mail attachments. E-mail attachments are the primary source of malware.
- Click only on links you trust. Especially those included in e-mail and social networks messages.
- While surfing the internet, do not install anything offered in a popup window - even if it's free! Usually this is spyware designed to steal details like passwords, credit card details and more
- Use strong and different passwords for your social email and messaging credentials.
- Keep your passwords in a safe place. Do not keep it on a computer screen, keyboard bottom etc.
- Be careful while surfing to unfamiliar sites.
- Internet transactions should only be performed on secure (https) and at trusted sites. If the site is unfamiliar, it is advisable not to upload or transfer any personal or sensitive information.
- Beware of uploading personal / private information to social sites. Uploaded information is exposed to everybody and cannot be removed. Think well before any action you perform online.
