Bacterial mRNA editing
In the lab, we investigate the process of mRNA editing in bacteria. mRNA
editing can change the genetic information of hundreds of genes and affect
protein sequence, structure, and function. By using state-of-the-art nextgeneration
DNA and RNA sequencing, genetic engineering, and computational
and evolutionary approaches, we aim to answer: 1. What is the mRNA editing
landscape in lab models and human pathogenic bacteria? 2. What regulatory
mechanism(s) underlie bacterial mRNA editing? 3. What functional importance
does it hold for bacterial biology and human health?
Laboratory location: Marcus Campus, Building 39, Room 113.
