Outstanding BGU students (only) at advanced stages in their Master’s research, whose Master’s research, by content, originality, and contribution to the field, might be extended to fulfill the requirements of a PhD Thesis.
The study and research period is 4 years.
The student is entitled to a Master's degree after passing the candidacy exam.
- Intended for Master's students and students in the thesis-completion track at Ben-Gurion University only (not in all faculties).
- Continuing with the same advisor as their Master’s.
- Students with high academic achievements in their Master’s studies.
- It is possible to register for the combined track after completing all credit requirements for the Master’s degree.
- Students who are in an advanced stage of their research.
- Students who have been in the Master’s program for a maximum of 4 semesters (at least one year in the thesis-completion track).
- Not formally completing the Master’s degree, but instead expanding the thesis into a Ph.D.
- The student becomes eligible for the Master’s degree after passing the Ph.D. candidacy exam.
- Department approval for the student’s transition to the combined PhD track (including the advisor’s recommendation).
