אבי רובין הוא פרופסור חבר במחלקה ללימודי המזרח התיכון באוניברסיטת בן-גוריון בנגב. מחקריו עוסקים בהיסטוריה חברתית-משפטית (socio-legal history) של המזרח התיכון המודרני, בדגש על שלהי התקופה העוסמאנית. הוא עוסק בנושאים כגון היסטוריוגרפיה, התפתחות מוסדות המשפט המודרניים, תרבות משפטית, שלטון החוק, קודיפיקציה, ומשפטים פוליטיים. עבודתו מציעה מבט ביקורתי על תהליכי המודרניזציה המשפטית באימפריה העוסמאנית, תוך שימוש בגישת "המשפט בפעולה" (law in action) המשלבת בין טקסטים משפטיים לפרקטיקות חברתיות.האוניברסיטה אינה נושאת בכל אחריות לתוכן המוצג בעמוד זה וביתר עמודי חברי הסגל. האחריות הבלעדית לתוכן מוטלת על חברי הסגל עצמם, המעדכנים ומנהלים את המידע בעמודיהם באופן עצמאי.
