
Galia Plotkin - Amrami
About
Galia Plotkin- Amrami, PhD, is a senior lecturer (Associate Professor) in the School of Education, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. Her current research projects examine the interrelations among the medicalization of childhood, stigma, educational policy, and parenting within school and family settings. She also studies maternal subjectivity and school family relations in the case of children's gender diversity and children's neurodevelopmental disorders.
Her previous research examined the knowledge and practices of mental health experts in education, immigration, and resilience-building, from anthropological and historical perspectives. Dr. Plotkin- Amrami explores social factors influencing the appearance of new categories of mental disorders and new professional practices.
