Collaborative Courses

Call for proposals for collaborative courses in English, for the 2026-7 and the 2027-8 academic years.

The Office of the Vice President for Global Engagement invites senior academic faculty members from all disciplines to propose Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) courses, developed in partnership with academic colleagues from institutions abroad and taught in English.

The offer is open to senior academic staff or academic staff in the process of receiving tenure.

The funding is primarily intended for undergraduate courses, although proposals for postgraduate courses may also be submitted. The course may include an in-person joint meeting of the participating students, either in Israel or abroad, for a study tour, workshop, or similar academic activity.

The proposal should include the following information:

1. Details of the BGU Faculty member and academic affiliation.
2. Course details and target audience.
3. Name of the collaborating institution, details of the partner and a letter of consent.
4. The level of digitalization (recorded courses, interactive courses, shared activity on zoom, etc.)
5. Estimated budget (detailed)
6. In cases of planned joint activities "on-campus"- this should be detailed and budgeted separately

Grant Conditions:

1. A budget account will be opened in the Funds and Research Division for the selected courses, under the name of the lead lecturer.
2. The proposed course must be approved by the departmental teaching committee and form part of the department's course offerings; consequently, it will be recognized as part of the lecturers' teaching duties.
3. The course will be open to Israeli and international students from relevant disciplines (subject to the approval of the respective teaching committees).
4. This grant is intended to cover development costs, not the ongoing costs of teaching the course (which are part of standard university teaching obligations).
5. The funded course must be taught at least three times (three iterations); these need not occur in consecutive years.
