Ron Ben-Tovim
Ron Ben-Tovim researches modern and contemporary war literature and soldier writing along with eighteen-century intellectual history and literature.
His first book Trauma and Language in Contemporary Veterans Writing came out in 2022 through Edinburgh University Press' series on Advances in Critical Military Studies (Victoria M. Basham and Sarah Bulmer editors). The book deals with American and British soldier writing (poetry, memoir, and graphic novels), and argues to view those works through the theoretical prism of "prosthetic writing."
Ben-Tovim's current book project deals with the interface between human and nonhuman in modern and contemporary war writing, and is due via Edinburgh University Press' Studies in War and Culture series (Gill Plain and Kate McLoughlin editors) in late 2026.
Ben-Tovim's work has appeared in Poetics Today, Language Quarterly, and College Literature, among others.
Ben-Tovim has also published three novels in Hebrew: Nartik Yahalom (Bellw Luna, 2018); Pekham (Tanjir, 2022); and Avak (Pardes, 2026). Some of his shorter prose has appeared in journals such as Moznaim, Helicon, and Mussach.
