The Department of Education at Ben-Gurion University reflects the dynamic character of the ethnically and culturally diverse setting within which it is located: the Negev region.

Being sensitive to the special experiences, conditions and opportunities presented by the communities in the region, the department is committed to educating researchers and practitioners in the knowledge, skills, and understandings necessary to contribute to a complex and continuously changing multicultural society.

The Laboratory for Organizations and Fields is engaged in researching schools in their environment, studying improvement processes in educational organizations, and professional development of managers, teachers, and organizational consultants.

Research in the Learning in Informal Environments Group is based on the premise that learning takes place throughout one's entire life-course, in a broad array of contexts and interactions, including those that are not specifically designed for learning.
