School of Pharmacy
"The pharmacist today is defined as a healthcare provider, an expert in pharmaceutical treatment."
In recent years, we have witnessed significant changes and developments in the perception of the pharmacy profession in Israel and worldwide. Today, the pharmacist is defined as a healthcare provider, an expert in pharmaceutical treatment, playing a crucial role in the healthcare system and in delivering health services. Pharmacists are required to acquire extensive clinical, regulatory, and managerial knowledge and skills to meet the professional challenges of pharmaceutical treatment in various professional settings (community, hospitals, pharmaceutical industry, research, etc.).
The School of Pharmacy at the Faculty of Health Sciences at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev is a young and dynamic institution that trains and nurtures pharmacists through undergraduate (BPharm) and graduate programs in Clinical Community Pharmacy and Regulatory Affairs (MSc).
The Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) program, which lasts approximately four years, places a strong emphasis on clinical community pharmacy. Some courses are conducted in various healthcare settings (in the community and hospitals). During the fourth year, students undergo clinical rotations in different hospitals—a unique training experience at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. These clinical rotations integrate extensive theoretical knowledge acquired during the degree with hands-on clinical experience, preparing students for their pharmacy internship and future integration into various professional roles.
The Master’s program in Clinical Community Pharmacy and Regulatory Affairs is a unique program at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. This two-year program equips pharmacy graduates with the skills to address various professional challenges in the field. The program provides expertise in pharmaceutical consulting and supervision in both the private and public sectors, responding to the growing demand for pharmacists with knowledge in managing and implementing pharmaceutical regulations and additional health services. It is designed to combine theoretical knowledge with practical application in clinical settings (medical institutions) and the workplace, making it suitable for full-time employees. Many MSc students choose the thesis track, gaining experience in planning, conducting, analyzing, and publishing scientific research in various pharmaceutical fields.
Our academic programs contribute to the professional and personal development of students, connect them to diverse areas of pharmaceutical practice, and provide a solid foundation for specialization and further academic studies at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev and other institutions. The School of Pharmacy and the Faculty of Health Sciences at Ben-Gurion University are leaders in research excellence and scientific innovation, particularly in interdisciplinary research and applied science development. They are committed to social and environmental responsibility and to advancing and developing the Negev region.
We would be happy to provide further information about the study programs at the School of Pharmacy at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev.
