MSc in Software and Information Systems Engineering

Students participating in this Artificial Intelligence and Autonomous Software Systems program will learn models, theories, and practical methods for developing intelligent systems, bridging the gap between man and machine. The program addresses a clear need for Artificial Intelligence professionals in the industry, where intelligent systems and algorithms are being used in navigation systems (GPS), computer simulations, internet agents, e-commerce, education software, computerized medicine, and more.

The department of Software and Information Systems has the largest number of Artificial Intelligence researchers in Israel, and is acknowledged. This program will expose students to exciting and up-to-date research fields, some in collaboration with international companies (e.g., IBM, Intel, Microsoft, and Facebook) and leading research institutions (e.g., Harvard and MIT). In addition, BGU
provides competitive scholarship to suitable candidates.

Graduates of this program join leading high-tech companies in Israel and abroad in the fields of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, as well as continue on to Ph.D. studies.

This is a two-year program that is also suitable for students that wish to work while participating in this program. The curriculum includes 36 degree points, including approximately 8 course (24 points) and a research thesis (12 points).

The available courses in this program are diverse, and include: Game Theory in AI, Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning, Complex Network Analysis, Search Methods in AI, AI Applications in Automated Diagnosis, Planning and Inference in Time-Dependent Medical Information Systems, Deep Learning, Advanced Topics in Recommender System, Collaboration in AI, and Text and
Content Mining from the Internet.

The students are required to perform a research thesis in the field of AI, supervised by a department faculty member. Students start the working on their thesis early in their studies, and the set of topics is very diverse and exciting, some of which are done in collaboration with industry and with top-tier international universities.

​The studies towards MSc Degree in Information Systems Engineering in the Machine Learning and Big-Data Analytics Program are aimed at training researchers and professionals with strong analytical and practical skills in the areas of Data Mining, Data Science, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Predictive Analytics, Big Data, and Business Intelligence.

The Machine Learning and Big-Data Analytics Program deals with automatic pre- processing and analysis of various data types with the goal of extracting novel information, knowledge or insights about complex real-world processes. This field has become a critical factor in today's competitive environment and it serves all tiers of management from operational decisions to strategic planning. The studies are meeting the evident need for professionals in Big Data, Data Science, Machine Learning, and Data Mining.
