MSc in Desert Studies
Agriculture and Biotechnology of Drylands
Desert and semi-arid zones make up about 40% of the Earth's land surface, where more than 2 billion people live. These arid regions include diverse ecosystems often characterized by population growth, overexploitation, drought and desertification that lead to reduced agricultural production.
Desert Studies
Environmental and Aquatic Microbiology
The major in environmental and aquatic microbiology introduces students to the latest developments in environmental microbiology research in arid environments, using advanced molecular, biogeochemical and isotopic tools.
Desert Studies
Irrigation and Plant Environment
This course of study focuses on the essential questions faced by farmers: when and how much to irrigate? The trend provides tools to address the irrigation problems associated with arid and semi-arid conditions (eg, high demand for evaporation, saline water and soils with poor nutrient content).
