About

Dr. Moshe Harats obtained his MSc. and PhD from the Racah Institute of Physics, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem under the supervision of Prof. Ronen Rapaport. In my graduate studies I focused on coupling single nanocrystal quantum dots to plasmonic nanoantennas, achieving directionality of single photons emitted from the nanocrystals. I continued to a postdoctoral position as a Minerva postdoctoral fellow at Freie University Berlin, under the supervision of Prof. Kirill Bolotin. In my postdoctoral research, I studied the optical signatures in semiconducting transition metal dichalcogenides monolayer subjected to local non uniform strain. Since 2021 I am an assistant professor at the Department of Materials Engineering at Ben Gurion University. My lab is dedicated to the research of ?Straintronics? ? the basic science and application of thin (2D) materials under different strain-engineering configurations.
