The course provides students with basic theoretical knowledge of movement and components of movement in the human body, and their importance in occupational therapy practice.
Instruction includes theoretical lectures and practical sessions in small groups. Practical sessions entail applied learning of theoretical concepts, topographic anatomy, measurement of joint range of motion, and assessment of upper and lower limb muscle strength using Manual Muscle Testing (MMT)
Motor Learning
Bachelor's in Occupational Therapy | Year 2 | Semester B | Mandatory Course
The course provides foundational concepts in motor learning, classification of motor skills, and elaboration on stages of learning.
Instruction integrates frontal lectures, discussions, and experiences encompassing models of skill control, as well as the acquisition and improvement of motor skills across various occupations and tools for assessing motor learning. The course focuses on the application of principles and processes that promote the acquisition and performance enhancement of motor skills among healthy individuals and persons with pathologies manifested in the motor domain.
Ergonomics

Learning combines lecture-based classes, discussions, and practical experience including skill control models, acquisition and improvement of motor skills in various occupations, and tools for assessing motor learning. The course focuses on applying principles and processes that can promote the process of acquisition and performance enhancement of motor skills among healthy individuals and people with pathologies manifested in the motor domain.
Research Seminar
Bachelor's in Occupational Therapy | Year 3 | Annual Course
Course Description and Objectives:
The Research Seminar course is designed to provide students with knowledge and practical tools to conduct independent academic research. Throughout the course, students are exposed to various research methods and learn how to develop research questions, design a study, collect and analyze data, and draw evidence-based conclusions. Students gain hands-on experience in writing a research proposal and a professional research report (in journal article format).
Additionally, emphasis is placed on developing academic writing skills and the ability to present findings in a clear and academic manner.
The course is conducted in collaboration with additional faculty members from the Department of Occupational Therapy at Ben-Gurion University. At the end of the course, the research projects are presented at a festive Research Day event.
In the current year, the research focused on personal-professional factors related to the involvement of rehabilitation professionals (occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech-language pathology) in oncology rehabilitation in Israel.
Research Objective: To examine the level of perceived knowledge, clinical self-efficacy, and attitudes toward oncology rehabilitation, as well as the actual level of involvement in treating individuals coping with cancer.
The research groups' works will be presented in the coming two months.
