Functional Neuroanatomy

This course provides an in-depth introduction to the structure and function of the human central nervous system, integrating anatomical, physiological, and cognitive perspectives. Aimed primarily at third-year undergraduate students from the school of Brain and Cognitive Science (also open to qualified graduate students), the course covers major systems of the brain, including cortical and subcortical structures, motor and sensory pathways, vascular organization, and neurodevelopment. Students engage with contemporary research articles and core neuroanatomy texts, participate in weekly assessments, and complete written assignments each semester. The course also includes two mandatory dissection room demonstrations, offering a hands-on opportunity to connect anatomical knowledge with functional principles.

Excellence Program in Cognitive Psychology and Neuroscience

This focused program in cognitive psychology and neuroscience is designed for outstanding second year undergraduate psychology students who wish to deepen their knowledge and explore pathways toward advanced degrees. Students gain a strong foundation in core areas such as perception, memory, attention, emotion, executive functions, and the neural bases of behavior and neuropathology. The curriculum includes a unique, dedicated 4 credit annual course featuring meetings with faculty, exposure to cutting edge research topics, hands-on research tools, and training in data analysis methods.
