The Ofakim HPC Cluster is Ben-Gurion University's High-Performance Computing service — a collection of CPU and GPU servers built to provide the University with fast, efficient, and reliable internal computing services. It was established to meet the growing computational demands of BGU researchers, giving them the power they need to run data-intensive analyses, large-scale simulations, and advanced AI/ML workloads without relying on external infrastructure.
At its core, Ofakim runs on Run:ai, an Israeli-founded platform built to maximize the utilization of expensive GPU resources. Instead of allocating entire GPUs regardless of need, Run:ai logically divides each GPU so researchers get exactly the compute their workload requires. Researchers get an environment that adapts to their needs in real time, so they can focus on their research rather than on managing infrastructure.
