Dr. Noam Tirosh
Dr. Noam Tirosh, Head of the Department of Communication at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, has assumed the position of Director of the Esther and Sidney Rabb Center for Holocaust and Revival Studies. His research focuses on memory and the ways in which media shapes our understanding of the past, particularly how Holocaust memory is evolving in the digital age: how its story is told on Instagram and TikTok, how it is represented in video games, and how new generations around the world encounter it. Alongside his research and international collaborations, Tirosh supervises graduate research students in the field and brings to the position experience in leading an academic department and developing programs and partnerships.
Tirosh's vision is to strengthen the Rabb Center as a hub for research, education, and public dialogue on the Holocaust and revival, connecting the study of the past with questions that concern us today. He aims to expand interdisciplinary collaboration among researchers, advance the study of Holocaust memory in the digital age, and make the knowledge generated at the Center accessible to the wider public. Within the university, he intends to strengthen Holocaust education and encourage students to participate in research, educational initiatives, and public engagement. At the heart of his vision is the aspiration to make the Center a vibrant and welcoming meeting place, where in-depth research informs public discourse and creates opportunities to reflect on the significance of Holocaust memory in Israeli society and around the world.
