About the Institute

Overview

The Negev Environmental Health Research Institute (NEHRI) is an interdisciplinary institute dedicated to environmental health, established by scientists from the Goldman Sonnenfeldt School of Sustainability and Climate Change and the Faculty of Health Sciences (Ben-Gurion University) and physicians from Soroka University Medical Center.

The institute was initiated in response to the increasing worldwide concern over the impact of climate change on health.

Our Vision

We believe that the Negev desert region is extremely well positioned for cutting edge research of the changing climate effects on human health.

Our Vision - NEHRI

Our Mission

To advance environmental health in the Negev through high-impact research and the training of the next generation of scientists. We investigate the health effects of environmental exposures, including air pollution, climate, green space, water, and noise, and develop innovative tools to measure and understand these risks. By generating actionable knowledge, we aim to inform prevention strategies and mitigate the health impacts of climate change on vulnerable populations.
