Soil Mechanics and Dynamics Laboratory
In the lab, we study fundamental soil behaviour and dynamic soil properties. The Soil Mechanics and Dynamics Laboratory (SMDL) at BGU is equipped with a 10kN/5Hz cyclic simple-shear apparatus, a 25kN/2Hz cyclic triaxial device, and two 50kN loading frames, all by GDS instruments.

Seismic hazard analysis
We use numerical and empirical tools to study different components of seismic hazard analysis (SHA), and develop engineering-oriented Ground Motion Models (GMMs) both locally (in Israel) and globally. Example studies include: site-response of vertical ground motions using vertical geotechnical arrays, developing a GMM for Israel based on empirical data and point-source simulations, studying site-effects in Israel and developing a dual-parameter parametric model, and more.
