Our Ph.D. program is crafted to cultivate critical thinking, advanced research skills, and a deep understanding of the societal issues and challenges shaping our community. At the heart of our curriculum is a commitment to theoretical knowledge and practical application, ensuring our graduates are well-equipped to make significant contributions to academic research and social policy development.
Our esteemed faculty, known for their expertise and contributions to the field, provide personalized mentorship and guidance, supporting each student's unique research interests and career aspirations.
Admission to the doctoral program is contingent upon securing the agreement of a departmental faculty member to supervise the candidate. Once a supervisor is identified, candidates must register directly with the Kreitman School of Advanced Graduate Studies.
Candidates without a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work who wish to pursue a Ph.D. in our department are required to complete supplementary studies in Social Work. The scope and content of these studies are determined by the supervisor and the head of the doctoral program.
The Ph.D. program spans four years. In the first year, students must complete a research proposal, which is evaluated by an ad-hoc committee of experts in the research field. Following committee approval, students conduct their research and write their dissertation under close supervision until submission for evaluation.
