​​​​​Join BGU this Summer to Study the Unique Mediterranean Ecosystem

Marine Life and Oceanography of the Eastern Mediterranean:

An International Joint Summer Program with Ben-Gurion University and IOLR

This unique and dynamic summer course will focus:

  • Study of the Eastern Mediterranean (Levant basin), characterized by high temperatures, salinity, and nutrient-poor waters.
  • Rapid climatic and biodiversity changes, and significant bioinvasion from various regions.
  • Anthropogenic pressures combined with natural oceanographic changes.
  • Ideal model for studying oligotrophic environments under climate change and human influence.

Program dates: June 22, 2025 – July 4, 2025

10 Days of intensive study, June 19 - July 6, 2025, including:

  • Lectures by leading scientists.
  • Hands-on research in wet and dry labs.
  • Field excursions to various ecosystems.
  • Tours of active research labs in Israel.
  • Immersive experiences in Ashkelon, Beersheva, Haifa, and Eilat.

* Students will have the opportunity to earn academic credits as part of this program. 

Additional Information

  1. Advanced BSc students and above
  2. Majors in biology or chemistry, or with scientific background
  • $1,760, which includes a 4-credit BGU course, health insurance, transportation, accommodation, and a world-renowned hands-on academic experience.

  • Accommodations will be coordinated near each research site, offering a comfortable hostel-style experience.

For your attention:

Starting on 01.01.2025: Tourists arriving in Israel with a passport from countries that are exempt from visas will be required to obtain an ETA-IL form approval.
