The Role of Semiconductor/Substrate Mismatch in the Formation of Electrodeposited Quantum Dots
Electrodeposition of CdSe (Te) from non-aqueous solutions produces films and
quantum dots (QDs), the nature of which is sensitively dependent on the semiconductor/substrate combination. Epitaxial CdSe quantum dots, 4-5 nm in size are formed on {lll} Au substrates, and the QD size increases with substitutional incorporation of small amounts of Te into the CdSe lattice. Diffraction-amorphous CdSe QDs are obtained on Pd substrates, which exhibit short range order characteristic of hexagonal CdSe
