Vinci Acoustic Velocity System

​The acoustic velocity system AVS-350 manufactured by Vinci Technologies is used for measuring both compressional (P-) and polarized shear (S-)wave velocities using piezoelectric crystals with 0.5 MHz central frequency. Plug diameter of 1'' and length of 1''- 3''. Axial, radial, and pore pressure are independently controlled using an Enerpac P391 hydraulic manual hand pump (pressure capacity of 70 MPa) with a manifold pressure capacity of 35 MPa. Tests can be performed on dry, moist, or saturated samples whereas the saturating fluid is of choice. Pore pressure floating piston made of stainless steel and pressure capacity of 70 MPa. Olympus Impulser 5072PR is used to generate the Electric signals and waveforms are analyzed using the oscilloscope Tektronix TDS-2022C then data is exported to the station computer. Heating mantle with a temperature range capacity of ambient to 150°C.
