Dynamic displacement of a block on an tnclined plane

Analytical, experimental and DDA results

The displacement history of a single block on an incline subjected to dynamic loading was studied. Eight sinusoidal input motion tests were used for validation. The issues such as comparison between discontinous deformation analysis (DDA) and analytical solutions, between DDA and shaking table results, role and sensitivity of the numeric control parameters in DDA and the computational error in DDA were also elaborated in detail. The block contact algorithm in DDA was found to be an accurate replication of the analytical model of frictional sliding. For accurate displacement prediction a reduction of the dynamic control parameter was recommended.
