Floxlab Geotest triaxial system

The system uses servo-controlled hydraulic compression frame with axial force capacity of 1000 kN and load frame stiffness of 1700 kN/mm. Axial load is delivered by a single cylinder syringe pump and two 3-liter low pressure cylinders. The triaxial cell serves as a chamber in which cylindrical rock specimens can be subjected to both axial and radial compression loading. Triaxial stresses are imposed by applying a circumferential confining pressure, in tandem with an axial load. The sample is fitted into a Viton sleeve between hardened steel endcaps and the assembly is immersed in confining pressurized oil. Confining pressure and axial stress are continuously monitored during tests. Electrical feed-through connectors, installed in the cell head, permit the installation of in-vessel instrumentation, e.g. axial and radial deformation measurement devices, ultrasonic platens, and other special transducers to be used. The in-vessel strains sensors consist of a diametric extensometer and three averaging vertical linear variable differential transformer (LVDT) for radial and axial strain measurements, respectively. The axial deformation range is 5 mm with 0.15% linearity Full Scale (F. S.) and the radial deformation range is 2 mm with 0.3% linearity F.S. The confining pressure controller generates and maintains the desired confining pressure around the jacketed specimen. The system consists of a single cylinder syringe pump automatically operated via pneumatic valves and a 5 liter feed tank. The working pressure is 10,000 psi. The pore pressure controller provides accurate pressure and flow rate control. It consists of a single cylinder syringe pump that can operate either at constant pressure, constant flow rate or specific volume at constant flow rate. The unit can be used to apply constant pore pressure to the specimen placed in the triaxial cell and measure the change in pore volume during triaxial loading. The working pressure is 10,000 psi.
