The chapter examines European Integration Studies (EIS) history and significance in Israel. The chapter argues that while the European Commission promoted EIS development, it simultaneously responded to local Israeli cultural filters. The chapter traces evolution from initial Israeli academic indifference to the current robust presence of specialized scholars and programs. The authors contend that Israeli academia’s acceptance of EIS norms has bestowed potency upon the discipline, underscoring the significance of the “Power of the Local” in making Normative Power Europe (NPE) effective.
