Is the statistics of an amplified optical pulse in nonlinear semiconductor optical amplifiers Gaussian?
The Fokker-Planck approach is used to study the statistics of optical pulses propagating in semiconductor optical amplifiers where spontaneous emission dominates. The electric field is non-Gaussian for moderate and deep saturation levels.
