The article discusses the iconographical transformation of Saint Clare of Assisi during the Renaissance and early modern period. It provides an overview on the life of the saint and her role in the early development of the Franciscan order. It also emphasizes the reproduction of a famous image in majolica form on plates for domestic use which are preserved in the Capuchin Museum in Rome, by the late Italian painter Simone Martini.
