Early-life adversity has been linked with late-life cognitive function. Specifically, some evidence exists on the link between exposure to hunger during childhood and cognition, mostly from the Chinese (1959-61) and the Dutch (1944-1945) famine. Our aim was to explore the association between periods of hunger and their duration with cognitive performance and decline among old-age Europeans.
