About

DANIELLA TALMON-HELLER is an associate professor at the department of Middle East Studies and - until recently - the director of the Center for the Study of Conversion and Inter-Religious Encounters (CSoC) at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of BGU. During the spring semester of 2026 she will be a Mercator Fellow at Johannes Gutenberg-Universit?t. Her research interests include the history and historiography of the medieval Middle East, Islamic thought and practice, material religion, and comparative religion ? probing differences and similarities between Judaism and Islam, with a special focus on sacred scriptures and material and liturgical objects, and the sanctification of places and times. She is also very interested in the history of the Land of Israel/Palestine, from the 7th to the 21st century, and in relations between Muslims and Jews.
