The first year (September 2026 to April 2027) will be spent at the Katz Center for Advanced Judaic Studies at the University of Pennsylvania and devoted to War and Peace in Jewish Thought and History. The second-year fellowship (October 2027  June 2028) will be spent at The Center for the Study of Conversion and Inter-Religious Encounters in Be'er Sheva, Israel, in the context of a different cohort, on the wider theme of War and Peace in World Religions.

Candidates who will accept the Katz Center's fellowship will be invited to submit their applications to CSoC, and be provided with a stipend of 100,000 NIS and affordable housing in Be'er Sheva, a shared workspace in the Center's offices, full library privileges, an affiliation with a vibrant group of scholars, and intellectual and social support from peers and senior researchers. Fellows will be required to conduct their research on the Marcus campus in Be'er Sheva at least once a week, attend weekly seminars and reading groups (routinely held on Tuesdays 12:00-14:00), and participate in conferences, book launches, excursions, and group meetings. They will be expected to present their work to other members, and to fulfill an active role in planning the Center's various activities for the year (before the actual beginning of the academic year).

The admission to the two-year program will be made on the basis of the application focused on War and Peace in Jewish Tradition, with the addition of a summary of the applicant's PhD thesis (up to 1000 words) to the otherwise required research proposal, two letters of recommendation and a CV.

For further information, contact Prof. Oded Israeli (academic director) or Ms. Raya Even David (administrative manager).
