The BGU-FOR Center aims to address food systems, One Health, and Resilience challenges through multidisciplinary research, collaborations, out-of-the-box thinking, targeted translational initiatives, and education. It serves as a platform for integrated research activities that explore and build upon the connections and impact of food, human, animal, plant, and environmental health on equity, security, resilience, and sustainability. Its strategic objectives aim to pave the way to translational research that addresses and supports the planet’s pressing challenges; fostering collaborations between academic institutions and doers; engaging communities; and supporting and advancing translational research support.
The ongoing Iron Swords war has caused unprecedented humanitarian and health crises among the crises-affected populations. It has resulted in thousands of casualties, massive displacement, widespread destruction, and increased risk of infectious diseases and environmental hazards. The war has also exposed the fragility and vulnerability of the health and food systems and the interdependence of human, animal, and environmental health in the region.
To address these complex and multifaceted challenges, we invite researchers from various disciplines to submit proposals for research projects that apply the principles of the Food Systems and One Health optics to the different stages of the emergency management cycle: prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery. It recognizes the interconnection between human, animal, and environmental health, and promotes collaboration across disciplines and sectors.
