Prospective Students

Welcome!

Thanks for reaching out! We’re excited to tell you more about AKIS — The Albert Katz International School for Desert Studies — and what makes our campus and community so special.
At AKIS, you’ll join a unique research environment in the heart of the desert and choose from our innovative M.Sc. programs in:

  • Desert Studies
  • Hydrology & Water Quality
  • Environmental Physics & Solar Energy
  • Ecology & Nature Conservation

We invite you to explore our website for detailed information about each program, including admission requirements and research opportunities.

All AKIS M.Sc. students conduct research under the guidance of an academic advisor, and your thesis is an essential part of the program.
To begin:

  1. Explore potential advisors
You can find the list of researchers here. Look for faculty members whose research areas match your interests.
  2. Reach out to advisors
Once you identify potential advisors, send each of them an email introducing yourself.
    Make sure to include:
    • Your CV
    • Academic transcripts (with an explanation of your grading system and GPA)
    • A short description of your academic background and research interests
    • Any relevant information about your background
  3. Meet your potential advisor
Many researchers invite prospective students for an online meeting or interview to discuss mutual research interests.
  4. Contact more than one advisor
It is completely acceptable, and even recommended, to contact several researchers at the same time.
  5. Secure an advisor and apply
Once a researcher confirms that they are willing to supervise your M.Sc. studies, you can proceed with your application to the relevant program.
