The Ben-Gurion National Solar Energy Center

The 24th Sde Boker Symposium on Solar Electricity Production

Please mark your calendars and reserve the date for the 24th Sde Boker Symposium on Solar Electricity Production, organized by the Ben-Gurion National Solar Energy Center at the Jacob Blaustein Institutes for Desert Research, on Ben-Gurion University's Sde Boker campus.

The 24th Sde Boker Symposium on Solar Electricity Production

The symposium will focus on a range of fascinating topics, including novel photovoltaic materials and devices, photoelectrochemical conversion and solar fuels, solar energy conversion systems, optics of solar systems, models of systems and components, concentrated solar energy, measurements and characterization, agrophotovoltaics, solar thermal systems, thermoelectricity, and other solar applications.

Two keynote speakers have already confirmed their attendance:

  • Prof. Antoine Kahn, Princeton University, USA
Surfaces, interfaces and doping of metal halide perovskites: fundamental issues and opportunities

  • Doron Aurbach, Bar-Ilan University, Israel
Optimal electrochemical power sources for electromobility and large energy storage.

In addition to sessions featuring invited and contributed lectures, we will also organize student poster sessions, providing an excellent opportunity for young researchers to showcase their work.

The lineup of esteemed invited speakers includes:

  • Hanna-Noa Barad, Bar-Ilan University
  • Ronen Gottesman, Hebrew University of Jerusalem
  • Idan Hod, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev
  • Nina Kamenaya, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev
  • Alon Kuperman, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev
  • Igal Levine, Hebrew University of Jerusalem
  • Haim Rabinowitch, Hebrew University of Jerusalem
  • Yevgeni Rakita, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev

My work concerns the atomic and electronic structures and chemistry of surfaces and interfaces of semiconductors. Over the past twenty-five years, focus has been predominantly on organic molecular semiconductors, hybrid halide perovskite films and transition metal dichalcogenides.Personal website

My research group expertise includes Materials Science, Electrochemistry, Power sources and Water technologies.

We develop rechargeable batteries and supercapacitors for electromobility (all aspects) and large energy storage.

We work on a variety of technologies, giving the chance to developing energy storage and conversion systems based on the most abundant elements of earth crust. We also develop water technologies including separation, cleaning, disinfection, CO2 sequestration and effective hydrogen production.  We struggle to keep a good balance between basic and practical science.
