Health Insurance Procedures

​​​​​Please review all elements of the below page to ensure that you have taken the necessary steps for your stay in Israel.

Every international researcher or student, as well as accompanying family members and dependents must be covered by the BGU Collective Insurance policy for the period of their stay in Israel.

Please note: having health insurance is mandatory in order to apply for a visa!

BGU Comprehensive Health Insurance:

The BGU comprehensive health insurance policy is provided by Harel Yedidim Insurance Company.

In addition to basic medical care, our insurance also includes:

  1. Continuous coverage throughout your studies (provided that the request for continuation is submitted at least 2 weeks before the policy end date).
  2. Physical therapy - up to 12 treatments per year.
  3. Psychological treatment (refund of up to 300NIS per treatment and up to 12 treatments per year).
  4. Extreme sports coverage.
  5. Pregnancy and childbirth coverage.

Purchasing a Health Insurance Policy

To purchase insurance directly with Harel Yedidim, please fill out the relevant form by clicking here.

After you get the insurance policy don't forget to send us a copy of it!

Advisors who are covering the health insurance of their students/researchers are kindly requested to complete this form.

Kindly have it signed by the budget officer and send the signed form to Here4u@bgu.ac.il.

Once the insurance policy has been issued, please make sure to send us a copy.

Health Insurance for B1 Visa Holders: 

​According to Israeli Law, holders of B1 visas must purchase a specific Health Insurance Policy, please contact the Welcome Center coordinators for further instructions.

Travel Insurance:

Israeli Health Insurance covers you only inside Israel.
To be covered while traveling abroad (outside of Israel) you must purchase travel insurance.

All those covered by Israeli health insurance need to purchase additional insurance for travel abroad. Students can purchase travel insurance through any of Israel's health insurance providers.
