Conservation and Ecological Genetics Lab

Shirli Bar-David

Our lab

Our lab focuses on spatial ecology and spatial genetics and their implications for wildlife biology and wildlife management. Specifically, we study spatial and genetic structure of populations, factors affecting range expansion following reintroduction, and movement patterns of individuals under differnet landscape scenarios.

The lab is part of Mitrany Department of Desert Ecology (MDDE) at the Jacob Blaustein Institutes for Desert Research (BIDR), located in Midreshet-Ben Gurion.

Current projects

  • Resource distribution effect on genetic diversity in a fission-fusion population of Asiatic Wild ass through mechanisms of sociality and reproduction.

  • Characterizing territories of Asiatic wild ass (Equus hemionus) breeding males:
habitat factors and presence of conspecifics
