About Me
I’m a social work scholar, activist, and practitioner committed to advancing social justice and transforming the ways poverty is understood and addressed. My work has focused on developing the Poverty-Aware Social Work Paradigm and implementing it nationwide in collaboration with Israel’s Ministry of Welfare and Social Services. This long-term initiative weaves together pedagogy, practice research, and policy practice to make poverty visible as a human rights violation and to strengthen solidarity between social workers and people living in poverty.
Over the years, I have served on national committees, helped initiate the Annual Day Against Poverty in the Knesset, and taken an active role in the Israeli Forum for the Eradication of Poverty. My work has been adapted for use in education and legal aid settings and has been recognized with several awards for contributions to social policy, social change, and the shaping of social work in Israel.
I have also been a visiting scholar at leading universities, including the University of Chicago, the University of Pennsylvania, CUNY, Ghent University, the University of Helsinki, the University of London, and the Università Cattolica of Milan.
