Ben-Gurion University of the Negev congratulates Prof. Angel Porgador on receiving the prestigious FISEBstar Award

BGU’s Prof. Angel Porgador receives one of Israel’s top biomedical honors, recognizing his cancer immunotherapy research and impact on the academic community.

Ben-Gurion University of the Negev extends its congratulations to Prof. Angel Porgador on receiving the 2026 FISEBstar Award, one of Israel’s most prestigious honors in biomedical research. Prof. Porgador is a senior faculty member in the Shraga Segal Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Genetics in the Faculty of Health Sciences.

Presented by the Federation of Israeli Societies for Experimental Biology (FISEB), the award recognizes outstanding researchers whose scientific contributions have significantly advanced the life sciences and medicine. The selection committee specifically noted Prof. Porgador’s exceptional impact on cancer research and immunotherapy, from groundbreaking basic science to the development of innovative approaches with therapeutic potential.

Prof. Porgador leads the Laboratory for Cancer Immunotherapy Research and Treatment Diagnostics, which focuses on developing personalized immunotherapies for cancer, including antibodies, engineered immune cells, and advanced methods for testing drug efficacy on tumors derived from real patients.

His work has earned international recognition, been published in leading journals, and fostered collaborations with research institutions in Israel and around the world.

Beyond his research achievements, the committee also cited Prof. Porgador’s substantial contributions to strengthening Israel’s academic community, educating the next generation of researchers, and his wide-ranging engagement in scientific and public initiatives.

The award will be presented at the FISEB 2026 conference in February, where Prof. Porgador will deliver a special lecture showcasing his research and insights to the scientific community.
