Remote Access
Remote Access to the Library's Online Resources
Access via the Library Catalog
The recommended way to access the library’s online resources is through the library catalog, BGUsearch.
University proxy authentication is embedded in the catalog, so no separate login is required—simply sign in using your institutional username and password.
Google Scholar
University proxy linking can be enabled in Google Scholar with a one-time setup.
- Open Google Scholar → Settings → Library links.
- Search for Ben-Gurion University of the Negev and select all available options.
- Click Save.
Full-text links to library-subscribed articles will appear in the results.
Access requires your institutional username and password.
LibKey – Recommended Browser Extension for Direct Article Access
LibKey is a recommended browser extension that provides direct access to full-text articles subscribed to by the library, without going through the library catalog.
- The LibKey extension can be installed on desktop browsers only (not on mobile devices).
Installation instructions:
- Open the browser in which you wish to install the extension.
- Go to: https://thirdiron.com/downloadnomad/
- Select the icon of your browser and click Install / Add to browser.
- Choose Ben-Gurion University of the Negev Library from the list.
- From now on, full-text links will appear on supported websites as you browse.
Additional Options
BGU-EZproxy Bookmarklet
You can add the BGU-EZproxy bookmarklet to your browser.
This option is compatible with all browsers and mobile devices.
Access from Abroad
- Access is available directly through the library catalog after logging into your personal account.
- If the library website is inaccessible, you may access the catalog directly at: primo.bgu.ac.il
- Alternatively, you may connect via VPN to access library services. Connection instructions are available [here] (via the portal; authentication required).
General Note on Access Issues
If you encounter access problems, it is recommended to:
- Clear your browser’s cookies and browsing history (not only the most recent session).
- Try accessing the resource using a different browser.
- If the Zotero browser extension is installed, it may interfere with remote access. In such cases, remove the old ezproxy address from the proxy settings (Options → Proxies).
