Daled (D) Dormitories are intended for all students admitted to the university, including pre-academic preparatory students. The Daled (D) Dormitories are roommates apartments with single rooms (separate entrances to each room). A joint kitchen and a shower room are shared between every two rooms.

Each year, social activities are held for dorm residents only. You’ll be able to enjoy sports classes, various workshops (chocolate, pizza, and more), and community “teambuilding” evenings.

More Information

All apartments in the dormitories are furnished and air-conditioned. Each apartment has several living rooms, a kitchen, a shower, and a toilet.

Each tenant has a wardrobe, bed, table, chair, bookshelf, and in the kitchen's closets, refrigerator, stove, dining table, and chairs.

Tenants must take care of personal equipment, kitchenware, Cleaning materials, and tools. The apartments will be cleaned by the tenants only.

It is forbidden to bring animals into dormitories. Introducing a guide dog puppy requires prior written approval from the dormitory section. Permission will be given only after receiving written consent in the dormitory section from the occupants of the apartment and the adjacent apartments.

Dormitories D - Western department:​

  • Three floors building:

    Large rooms designed for a single student, separate entrance to each room, shower, and kitchen of partners for each two rooms.

    Toilets are locked and cleaned by the dormitory staff for every number of rooms. The living conditions in these rooms are more outdated than other solutions in dormitories, but those rooms are extra large and spacious.

    In the apartments, electric boilers for water heating.

    In the kitchens, electric ovens and microwave.

  • Four floors building:

    32 apartments with four rooms for singles

    Eight apartments with two rooms for singles are intended for tenants from all school years.

    Seven apartments for couples from all studies

    The apartments have solar water heaters and electricity backup for water heating.

    The kitchens have electric ovens and microwaves.

  • Prefabricated buildings:

    32 apartments.

    Apartments with three spacious rooms for singles. The rooms have a "bed and a half" size bed,

    the apartments are intended for third-year students and above.

    The apartments have solar water heaters and electricity backup for water heating.

    The kitchens have electric ovens and microwaves.

Dormitories D - Eastern department:​

​Forty-five apartments with four rooms for singles and intended for students starting from year 3.

Eighty apartments with a bedroom, a study/children's room, and a living room are intended for couples from all school years. In these apartments, infrastructure for the use of a washing machine.

The apartments have solar water heaters and electricity backup for water heating.

In the kitchens, there are electric stoves and a microwave.

Internet connection in the apartments

BGU computer department offers the tenants a wired internet connection ​from their dorm room via a fixed connection to the university’s network that can be asked for while filling out the dormitories preference form. There is a possibility of joining the service after signing the living contract by filling out the information under the personal information services on the website. The price for year 2023 is 420 ILS for the whole year.

Expanding the service to a wireless connection is only for who has the wired connection service and adds a wireless router ​​fitted by the BGU computer department for use in the dormitory rooms. There is a single cost of 80 ILS for the router. All guidelines for purchasing are in the computer department website. ​

ICT services for students in the dormitories

BGU computer department offers the tenants a variety of ICT services from their room. The services are given under the university's policies which are a subject of change. The university has the right to make changes in the services and their scope. The student is committed to meet the requirements in his/her private computer to receive the services:

Valid Anti-virus software and all security patches critic for the Microsoft operating systems (Critical Patches).

The student is aware that failing to comply these conditions could cause a temorary disconnection from the service.

Advantages:

A stable connection to the university's network, browsing in data bases and electronic journals under the university's library agreements, email and files transfer services on campus, running computer apps like Matlab, SSPS & Adams, saves time waiting for computers in the public computer classes and web-surfing under the university's policies.

Disadvantages:

There are blocked services, such as peer to peer, emule, imesh, kasa etc'. A student wishing to leave the service at the end of semester A and will notify in writing the dormitory section by the end of February will get a refund of half the cost during March. A permission to use a computer from the dorms is for the current year. There is a need to ask for the service every year.

Public computer classes are available in the dormitories for the use of the tenants all day long without extra fee. ​

Cable TV in the​ dorm rooms

the students can contact “HOT" company personally for the service. Installing reception accessories outside the rooms in forbidden.

AC

Each apartment has AC in it.

Secur​ity

the dormitories are fenced and supervised by the university's security department. Dormitory C is fenced and closed all day long. Entrance at the gate is possible only with coded magnet cards. Dormitory D is fenced, the gates are open for pedestrians during the day. From evening to 6 am the gates are closed, and entrance is available only with a coded magnet card. In eastern wing & buildings with 3-4 stories on the western wing, entrance to the building is only with a coded magnetic card.

​​Receiving of application and data entry

  • The decision of the application can be positive or negative. Answers are published on the personal information service on the website.
  • A voucher for the rental deposit is sent to those who are eligible for housing. The payment could be made also via the personal information service on the website.
  • An objection on a negative decision can be made in a period of 21 days after the decision, under the rules written on the personal information service on the website.
  • Eligibility for dormitories: rental deposit payment at one of the banks written on the voucher or by credit card until the date written on the voucher. One business day after the payment you will be able to fill out your dormitory placement request.
  • For those paying by credit card online, the dormitory request must happen as a term of payment. If a person can not use the internet, please send the paid voucher with the bank signature with your dormitories preferences until the date written on the voucher.​
  • The amount of the rental deposit for year 2023 is 1,800 ILS for singles & 3,600 ILS for couples.

Placement of ​​tenants in couples:

  • The apartments are offered in dormitories C & D.
  • While signing the contract, married couples will show a marriage certificate.
  • Couples who are not married will have to hand in a declaration signed by the student association lawyer for wanting to live together, by the deposit payment due date. Meeting coordination with the association lawyer could be made via students’ service center, phone 08-6472340.
  • It is a must to note your preferences upon the eligibility form or the personal information service online. We will do our best to respond to students’ requests, but we cannot promise that, and a placement to a different dormitory might take place.
  • A deposit of 1,000 ILS per person, 2,000 ILS for a couple will be charged from every tenant, together with the first rental payment and will be refunded while making the conclusion of the account at the end of the rental year, if no damage has been made to gear.​
  • Students leaving after the end of the contract and/ or do not renew it until that date will be charged for every day 40 ILS per tenant, not including rental costs.
  • Apartment acquittal will be done in coordination with the supervisor until 14:00. make sure to have a confirmation of departure signed by the supervisor. Before your acquittal, please make sure you follow the instructions below:

    • Clean and wash the room.

    • If holes were made in the walls, make sure to plug them. A special material can be found at the supervisor's office.

    • Dirty walls must be cleaned or whitewashed.

    • Stickers on doors must be taken off.

    • You have to take out every furniture or personal gear you brought in.

  • After cleaning your room, please make sure the communal parts of the apartment are clean, even if there are tenants staying at the apartment.
    • If you are the last tenant:
      • make sure to close all doors, blinds and windows.
      • Unplug the refrigerator and make sure it is unfrozen and clean.
      • Close all lights and the gas pipe.
      • Take out all garbage left in the apartment.
      • If you find any problems regarding electricity, plumbing, sewerage etc' let the supervisor know about it.
    • We will not receive complaint such as “it wasn't me", “that's how I got the apartment" etc'. Every tenant received a form to write notes and issues while signing the rental contract.
    • To ensure the tenant's liabilities as were written and signed by the tenant at the rental contract, the university may cancel the deposit or offset repair costs.
    • The binding contract is the one signed by the tenant while getting the room key.
