About

Prof. Vitaly Gitis is a Full Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering Sciences, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (BGU), Israel, and serves as Head of the Energy Engineering Program. In 2025, he was appointed to the Sir Leon Bagrit Chair in Computer-Based Global Industry & Scientific Development. Prof. Gitis?s research focuses on advanced separation processes, water and energy engineering, and membrane science, with particular emphasis on ceramic and polymeric membranes, zeolites, and porous materials. His work integrates experimental studies, physicochemical modeling, and engineering-scale applications, addressing challenges in water and wastewater treatment, desalination, the water?energy nexus, micro- and nanobubble technologies, photocatalysis, and additive manufacturing of ceramic membranes He has authored more than 80 peer-reviewed journal articles in leading international journals and is the author and editor of several authoritative books published by major international publishers. Prof. Gitis is Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Energy & Climate book series (World Scientific) and serves on the editorial boards of multiple scientific journals in the fields of membranes, water treatment, and separation science.
