Hepatitis delta virus requires co-infection with hepatitis B virus to establish chronic HDV infection. HDV/HBV co-infection is considered to be the most severe form of chronic viral hepatitis. Few mathematical models exist up to date, that seeks to investigate the HDV/HBV interactions. This is due to the lack of patient data and permissive experimental models. In this manuscript, we further examine a recently published model on the dynamics between HBV and HDV under an anti-HDV treatment. We have managed to analytically solve the model in full, and the solutions were compared with the numerical solution. We show herein that the current model needs improvement reproduce HDV and HBV kinetics during anti-HDV treatment, and the principles of how this should be performed are outlined and discussed for future work.
