About
My lab studies bacterial pathogenesis, focusing on type III secretion systems (T3SS), which are multi-protein complexes that play a crucial role in bacterial virulence. T3SSs are found in many gram-negative bacterial pathogens that cause plant, animal, and human diseases. They are dedicated to the secretion and injection of bacterial virulence factors, termed effectors, into the cytoplasm of the host cells. We believe a better understanding of this protein complex will allow us to design novel therapeutic drugs targeting specifically bacterial pathogens and spare commensal bacteria. In addition, we aim to utilize the T3SS to inject desired proteins into mammalian cells for various clinical applications.The University bears no responsibility for the content displayed on this page or on any other faculty members’ pages.
