About

Yael Hashiloni-Dolev is a Full Professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Ben-Gurion University. She served as the university's president's advisor on gender equity (2023-2025), as co-president of the Society for the History, Philosophy and Sociology of Science (2018-2021), as a member of the National Council on Bioethics (2013-2021), and as a member of the Steering and Judging Committee for the Promotion of Gender Equity at the Council for Higher Education. Hashiloni-Dolev is a leading researcher who studies the interface between sociology, gender, family, bioethics, health and illness, gender and repro- technologies. Her research on topics such as selective abortions and sex selection, genetic testing during pregnancy, age and fertility, egg freezing and posthumous reproduction in Israel and Germany, has received international acclaim and has been published in the best journals in Israel and abroad. She recently edited, together with Sharon Orshalimy, the collection: "A Body of One's Own: Medicine, Sex and Gender" published by Lambda, Open Uni. 2025.
