About

Erez Maggor is a Sociologist specializing in the political economy of industrial policy and innovation, the politics of growth models, and the political foundations of the neoliberal order. He received his Ph.D. in Sociology from New York University (2020) and was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Edmond J. Safra Center for Ethics, Tel-Aviv University (2020-2021), and the Martin Buber Society of Fellows, Hebrew University of Jerusalem (2021-2023). Recently, he was a visiting researcher at the Institute for Future Studies in Stockholm (2024-25). Through comparative-historical analysis, his research examines the emergence of the high-tech and venture capital (VC) sectors in Israel alongside similar industries in places such as Taiwan, Ireland, and Finland. Additionally, he researches the political economy of the Israeli settlements and the relationship between the settlement enterprise and the neoliberal project. In his current research, Maggor studies the 'return' of industrial policy in the US and the EU, inclusive innovation, and the politics of the digital health sector in Israel and Sweden. His research has been published in leading journals, including Socio-Economic Review, Politics & Society, Regulation & Governance, Competition & Change, Political Geography, and New Political Economy. In addition to academic publishing, his work has been featured in American Affairs, Jacobin, and Le Grand Continent. Maggor is a founding member of the Political Economy and Neo-Liberalism Workshop, which has been active since 2018.
