Chromatic lipid/PDA giant vesicles for studying membrane events

We assembled giant vesicles (GVs) composed of different phospholipids embedded in the chromatic polydiacetylene matrix. Due to the micrometer size of these vesicles (10-20 µm), experimentation can be carried out using conventional microscopy, such as optical and fluorescence microscopies. Using the lipid/PDA GVs, we have studied size and morphology changes induced by varied membrane active compounds and microorganisms.
